Louisiana Legislature Action: June 22, 2009

New regulations should be written to govern the mobile dental clinics that have been growing at Louisiana's public schools, the Senate agreed Monday in a 32-3 vote. The proposal (House Bill 687) started as a bid to ban the clinics outright but couldn't gain passage. As it heads back to the House for approval of changes, the bill by Rep. Kevin Pearson, R-Slidell, would direct the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry to come up with new regulations for the mobile units, with guidance on areas the board should consider.
