Should you buy bulk toothbrushes or buy them separately?

By Robert B.

Large families or oral health conscious individuals may use many toothbrushes per year, or at least they should! The average toothbrush should last you only about 3 months, and the toothbrush you’re using is probably over 6 months old! By buying toothbrushes in bulk, you can ascertain yourself that you’ll always have a new toothbrush ready when it’s useable life is up!

Toothbrush statistics prove again and again that if you’re not brushing for more than 2 minutes each time, or replacing your toothbrush every 3 months, you’re not actively fighting gum disease and gingivitis. And if that toothbrush is old and worn down, it is even more ineffective.

What to look for when buying toothbrushes

There are many types of toothbrushes on the market, from manual to cordless electric ones. But which is right for you?

Regardless of the type of toothbrush you use, always buy American Medical Association toothbrushes. These are designated with the AMA abbreviations somewhere on the package. This certifies that the toothbrush does the job it’s supposed to!

Manual Toothbrushes

When selecting a company for toothbrushes, it’s important to select a brand you can trust. Some of the most popular brands and styles of toothbrushes include:
  • Rembrandt toothbrush
  • Reach toothbrush
  • Colgate toothbrush
  • Crest extender toothbrush
As for adults, you should select the style of toothbrush that most effectively cleans your teeth. By reading consumer reports on toothbrushes, you’ll be sure to keep up to date. For kids, you can promote brushing by buying them a fun toothbrush, such as a Ladybug toothbrush for the girls or a Dinosaur toothbrushes for the boys.

Another new trend in buying bulk toothbrushes is purchasing some prepasted disposable toothbrushes. These are excellent for traveling or other quick trips.

Electric Toothbrushes

The new trend is replacing those old toothbrushes with electric ones. As you probably well know, electric toothbrushes aren’t cheap, and that is why you should always consult electric toothbrush ratings & reviews before making a purchase. Electric toothbrushes are better at cleaning the teeth and promote brushing longer than when using manual toothbrushes. Many have built in timers or won’t turn off until at least 2 minutes is up.

Whether you decide to buy toothbrushes in bulk, individually, or even consider an electric toothbrush, you’re making a step in the right direction. Everyone likes good oral hygiene, but no one generally makes it a priority.

The best thing you can do to improve your oral health is to brush longer. Whatever it takes to do this, from new toothbrushes to electric ones, just do it. You’ll feel more confident with a clean mouth and others will notice, too!
