Check with a dentist before OTC whitening

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

Here’s a quick interesting tid-bit worth mentioning.

Before applying any OTC (over-the-counter) tooth whitening agent, check with a dentist to confirm that the stained portions of your teeth aren’t dangerous diseases or infections.

It will certainly help to treat the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms.

Patients skipping the chair for whitening procedures

Professional teeth whitening is no longer needed to be administered by a “professional” (dentist). While it’s good to consult with a dentist before performing any teeth whitening procedure, in home kits are slashing costs.

What would typically cost hundreds of dollars in-office is now about $100 in-home.

Certainly consumers don’t mind saving money and avoid a trip to an office. Typically the user makes sample molds of their teeth, and returns them. They are then shipped custom trays to use when applying the whitening gel.

Bright smiles are definitely in now, thanks to these developments!
